Abstract:Sales have increased by volume from 1991 to 1999 to reach 3.8mn units in the 12 months from July 1998 to June 1999. Sales value has not kept pace since 1996, leading to fall in average unit price from £309 to £276. The sales growth of expensive widescreen receivers and IDTVs is anticipated to move volume sales to 4.1mn in 2003. Value sales are anticipated to rise from £1.0bn in 1998 to £1-4bn in 2003, representing an increase in average unit value to £ 337.
