Abstract:Continuous peoplemeter panels are now acknowledged throughout the world as the best vehicle for the measurement of television audiences. The electronic technology and all aspects of the methodology from sampling to the production of audience estimates are highly developed subjects. The scope of this paper is limited to just part of the process, the statistical aspects of sampling and panel control. The UK model for BARB (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board) provides the basis for discussion.
