Abstract:The Canadian government has had difficulties in determining how much it should spend on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that is responsible for public broadcasting. In this decision making, the citizen's chance to express his opinion on the choices has been weak and usually transmitted only through surveys. This article reports the results of a national survey where contingent valuation and choice experiment data are used for estimating use and non-use values of CBC programming services.
