| Abstract: | In this paper the author studies how television as a media can contribute and what it has already contributed to the construction and being of a European public sphere. The author discusses the matter and suggests definitions and understandings of the key terms as well as sketches an overview of transnational television in Europe. The author concludes that EU should be thought as a political project that steadily, over time, will provide a European layer to the identities of Europeans - for example due to the sort of everyday cultural community that television has contributed to since the early 1950s. |
