Abstract: | This article assesses the character of change in forms of coordination of wage setting and collective bargaining in the public hospitals. The study is conducted in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and the UK. In the analysis part, four key characteristics are identified: 1) An extended number of representative employee bodies, 2) The integration of wage setting in public hospitals, 3) Divergent interests of public and private hospitals, 4) The adaptation of collective wage agreements to allow tailor-made local employment conditions. In addition, there are great differences in the relationship between collective public hospital agreements and private hospital agreements in four countries examined. |
