Abstract: | The list of distinguished business families is impressive. Though for different reasons most of the names have disappeared. As a rule, the more able descendants of the founder continued the traditions of the family business. Tom and Terry Wilding have separately achieved commercial success. Their routes to fortune were unlike, but so are their personalities. Starting as a tea boy at a small paper mill, T. Wilding was appointed its manager 14 years later. He led the buyout of UK Paper form Bowater. Terry founded Wilding Office Equipment. What began as a job repairing and selling old typewriters is now a business with 57 outlets and a high turnover. |
