Abstract:This paper aims to explore the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as determinants of the employees' knowledge transfer (KT) in the context of a Spanish non-profit (herein as: n-p.) organization, called 'Asprona'. Using a case study method, the n-p. organization (as: org.) is analyzed through a qualitative and quantitative analysis with a sample of over 70 people, utilizing the partial least squares approach (PLS) to test the research hypotheses.
It is shown that, in Asprona, KT improves through intrinsic motivation. Yet, extrinsic motivation is not significant on KT. This result is interesting as people are involved with a n-p. org. because of intrinsic reasons rather than for financial rewards.
