Abstract:The population distribution in Beijing's Haidian District is in the course of proliferation which concentrates the central zone. So the construction of first-class commercial facilities should be strengthened in this zone. As the population density is relatively low in the outer zone, the orientation of commercial development should be to establish lower-grade commercial facilities satisfying general needs. As to the inner zone, the facilities there should not be overdeveloped for the population distribution is in the course of proliferation, the population growth is slower and there are better commercial facilities which, however, are in the unfavorable position in competition with ones in the city proper.
