Abstract:Two themes emerges from the articles of the Special Research Forum on Innovation and Organizations. One group develops an expanded view of the influence of context on organizations' ability to innovate. A complex, multilevel view of context is offered in the articles as including elements from the dominant strategy of an organization to social-psychological antecedents od creativity. The other group of papers gives a community and population view on the diffusion of innovations. The need for additional theoretical integration to link organizational context with industry-level dynamics, is suggested.
