Abstract:It is easier to make corporate plans than it is to carry them out. The authors of this article support the idea that strategy formulation is a "top-down" activity, which, for its successful implementation, requires managers to use the right instruments. These involve use of the business mission statement, strategic control and the evaluation of finance, marketing, R&D, production and personnel, future-oriented control, competitive bench marking, identifying critical success factors, and including "what if?" analyses.
