Abstract:The corporate strategist should not enter a joint venture without a comparable blueprint for success. The executive who enters into discussions with potential partners is responsible for the integrity of the joint venture's final design. He should participate in the early evaluations and in the decisions critical to the venture's success. This is not the time to delegate. Success of joint ventures hinges on the executive's participation and leadership in the creation of the new enterprise. The factors that are essential to establishing successful partnerships are detailed.
