Abstract:The business activity of banks is often misunderstood by the public. The main target of this criticism is consumer credits, which are blamed to be the promoter of consumerism. The traditional prejudices and lack of information lead to political pressure, that is sometimes reflected in laws threatening the existence of consumer credits. The corporate strategy of these institutions should not be confined to the traditional planning of business and return; political, legal and social issues should be taken into account too. The information policy and public relations of consum credit banks must be more transparent.
