Abstract:This paper investigates co-operative strategies in a sample of pharmaceutical and scientific instrument companies. Internationalisation strategies depend on the company's overall strategy, the context of the firm and it's past history of internationalisation. A single internationalisation strategy cannot be described and that for the firm as a whole, conflicting international moves are often made, because many internationalisation moves are shown to be initiated at unit, division, site or individual manager level.
