Abstract:This research compares the business strategy, quality management practices and performance reporting systems of New Zealand manufacturing companies which have ISO accreditation with those of non-ISO accredited companies. It was found that companies pursuing a quality strategy are more likely to have ISO accreditation. There was inconclusive support for the hypothesis relating to the differences between quality management practices of ISO and non-ISO accredited companies. Overall, the results suggest that ISO accredation does not necessarily result in the increased adoption of quality management practices.
