Abstract:The paper considers troubles that happened to Ericsson the Swedish telecom giant. First the author analyses the reasons of the trouble: he considers Ericsson's loses during last two years. Then the author answers the question whether this company should quit the handset game because it simply isn't geared up to compete with more market-savvy rivals like Nokia. The author states that what's missing from Ericsson's corporate DNA is the retail-marketing gene-a shortcoming with near-fatal consequences. In In short, Ericsson needs to start behaving less like Swedish national treasure and more like the lightning-paced wireless-to-Internet global player it aspires to become.
