Abstract: | This study aims to explore how the news media cover organizational (henceforth as: org-al.) crisis responsibility (here as: resp.) and crisis response strategies (as: rsp-strs.) with their differences by crisis types. The news coverage of major crisis events during 2006 in three newspapers is analysed as to their content of level of resp. and org-al. rsp-strs. There are found significant differences btw. preventable (as: prev-) crises and accidental (as: acc-) crises: most prev-crises news coverage focused more on the individual level of resp., whereas acc-crises news used the org-al. level of resp. The significant differences of org-al. rsp-strs. show that prev-crises news coverage frequently reported denial strategies, while acc-crisis news covered deal more with strategies. |
