| Abstract: | Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in the accounting construct known as Economic Value Added (EVA). THe September 27, 1993 cover story of Furtune declared it to be the "real key to creating wealth" and "today's hottest financial idea and getting hotter" (Tully 1993). Numerous other articles in financial and trade journals have proclaimed the virtues of this method of measuring corporate performance. Such attention to EVA can be viewed as a resurgence of interest in a concept that has existed for a long time. |
