Abstract:In 1992, sales of baby toiletries reached an estimated 194m of pounds sterling, a 32% increase on 1989. Baby wipes were the fastest sector and became the largest overall sector. Major manufacturers are Jonson & Jonson, Boots and Scott, which account for over 65% of sales value between them. Market size is forecast to reach around 162m of pounds sterling in 1993, rising to 206m of pounds sterling by 1997. Advertising expenditure on baby toiletries amounted to 3,6m of pounds sterling in 1992. The baby wipes sector will continue to grow fastest, although growth rates will slow as market penetration increases.
