Abstract:This report examines the market for toys and games in Germany. For the purposes of the report, the paper has divided the market into the following two main sectors: traditional toys and games, and computer and console games. The research has shown that the market for toys and games witnessed healthy value expansion of 18.2% in current terms over the review period despite continuing economic unease and overall sluggish private consumption. Growth in 2000 was more moderate at 3.1%, reaching DM8.481 million by 2000. Increasing sales were led by a trend towards higher priced technologically advanced toys, and a high level of product innovation, especially with regards to intelligent and use of character licensing.
