Abstract:This report analyses the market for OTC healthcare in Denmark. For the purposes of the study, the market has been divided into six sectors: Analgesics, Cough, cold & allergy remedies, Digestive remedies, Medicated skin care, Vitamins & dietary supplements, Other OTC healthcare. For the purposes of this study, the authors have defined OTC healthcare products as those which may be purchased over the counter, without a doctor's prescription, for the purposes of self-medication of a minor ailment. Prescription-bound sales are excluded. One of the main findings is that changes in distribution was one of the key trends in the Danish OTC healthcare market as more products became available outside the pharmacy monopoly over retail sales.
