Abstract: | This report analyses the market for perfumes and fragrances in Germany. For the purposes of the report, the authors have divided the market into the following six main sectors: Premium men's; Premium women's; Premium unisex; Mass men's; Mass women's; Mass Unisex. The distinction between mass market and premium is normally price and label/positioning (mass fragrances rarely carry a designer label) and distribution. The main findings of the report are the following: Sales of perfumes and fragrances experienced growth of 2% in 2000, underpinned by demand for premium women's and men's products. A significant trend towards exclusive and individual brands emerged during the last years of the review period, with increased consumer confidence further aiding growth. |
