Abstract:The market for frozen prepared food products in Great Britain is examined, excluding products such as frozen chicken or uncooked fish fillets or ice cream. The market sectors are: meat products, ready meal, green vegetables, cereal products, seafood, fish products and potato products. Value sales in 1990 were up 9 percent. Seafood, cereal products and potato products were the fastest growing sector. General move towards added-value products was seen. Vegetable-based burgers and grills are a fast-growing market. Market potentials include broccoli and baby sweet-corn, adult-targeted pizzas, potato products through innovation, microwave chips, seafood for added-value products. Overall sales are expected to drop slightly between 1990 and 1995.
