Abstract:This article deals with Russia's patterns of economic growth and economic developmental models in use under presidents Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin. Explored is the possibility of Russia being fixed with the 'resource curse', that is, its wealth of oil and gas reserves leaving the country in a perpetual state of economic instability, political authoritarianism, and social inequality. Topics include the corrupt oligarchies and the influence of that social group on Russia's development model.
