Abstract:The annual fall conferences organized by the Boston Fed used to be called the "falling leaves conference". Perhaps this one should be called the falling inflation, or better yet the fallen inflation, conference. It is striking that, with U.S. inflation north of 2 percent and rising and nominal interest rates north of 5 percent and also rising, it is the Federal Reserve System - not the Bank of Japan nor the European Central Bank - that is sponsoring this conference.
