Abstract:The time was when German companies paid only lip service to shareholder value. That's changing, as German companies are increasingly forced to fight for capital on world markets. Philip Moore reports. "Chief executives, who themselves own few shares of their companies, have no more feeling for the average stockholder then they do for baboons in Africa". That was the former chairman of Mesa Petroleum in the US saying in 1986. So what would he have had to say about German chief executives?
