| Abstract: | The Commission has recognised that although the single market has given tangible improvements in employment and competitiveness, it is still underachieving (EPA 4/96,p9). Consultations on the impact and effectiveness of the single market are to form the basis of a new action plan which is being prepared for the Amsterdam summit in June. This will also take into account the conclusions of a coherence of business, consumer, trade union and government representatives held in Brussels in March. |
