| Abstract: | Yantian harbour is under construction. But the first phase of the project has already been completed. Being 14 metres in depth, it now has two berths for 50,000 ton class container cargo ships and the most advanced loading and unloading equipment in the world. Its establishment will save US$ 200 to 400/TEU for the container shipment from the Pearl River Delta to Europe and America compared with the shipment via Kuiyong dock of Hong Kong. After the completion of the second phase in 1999, there will be six quay berths with an annual handling capacity of 2 million TEU.At that time, it will become the international container hub port in South China. To this end, we should determine the correct development tactics. |
