Abstract:The aim of this research paper is to show how social networks in organizations operate in sharing of public and private knowledge and how the strength of different types of ties influences on it. The analysis is based on a specifically created and developed web survey performed in 22 units of the case organization that operates in international financial business. The survey indicated that the strength of business relationships is more significant to the sharing of different types of knowledge than the strength of social relationships. The understanding of knowledge sharing mechanisms is the key to develop more innovative products and better economic performance.
