| Abstract: | This paper aims at exploring inter-organizational (henceforth as: i-o.) knowledge exchange from the viewpoint of the individual manager/professional (herein as: m/ps.). Dealt with are the kinds of relationships (as: r-ships) that m/ps. in SMEs are involved in and the way in which they construct boundaries within and around these i-o. r-ships enabling and impeding knowledge acquisition. Based on over 30 interviews with m/ps. in seven SMEs with interviews focused on the i-o. r-ships seen as important sources of knowledge for themselves and their organizations, it is among others shown that m/ps. get vital knowledge from far more i-o. r-ships than those formally designed for knowledge acquisition etc. |
