Abstract:According to extant literature, consumers' positive attitudes towards ethical consumption and products are growing increasingly common. However, the consumers' purchasing behavior does not seem to completely match their ethical intentions. This article makes an attempt to understand this "Ethical Purchasing Gap", by reviewing the existing body of literature and by conducting focus group discussions with consumers. Based on the findings, the authors construct a conceptual framework for understanding the factors that impede the development of consumers' ethical intentions into actual purchasing behavior.
