Abstract: | If the expansion of the income gap is not to be controlled, it will not only cause numerous problems, but also result in a negative economic growth. The crux of the expansion of the gap lies in lack of public policies to narrow the gap rather than the expansion of economic disparity. It is necessary that government establish redistribution mechanism which involves cities and countryside, different regions, social groups, etc. What are the sources of funds? 1. Evaded taxes constitute 4 per cent of GDP, which amount to thousands billion RMB; 2. Extra-budgetary funds, which amount to 8 to 9 percent of GDP, if the evaded taxes are involved. This demands great resolution from the government. |
