| Abstract: | Communitarians claim that (a) welfare criteria supported by economists lack a 'moral' dimension; b) Methodological indi- vidualism employed in economic models ignores the fact that individuals are capable of unselfish acts; (c) the moral at- titudes of economists and the imperfections of their analy- sis leads to misleading policy advice. Each of these conten- tions is considered in turn and ultimately rejected. |
