| Abstract: | There is a long-standing debate over the role of ownership in factor proportions in LDCs. The present article uses value- added per worker for 119 5-digit industries subdivided into four ownership categories: foreign, government, private and joint venture of government and foreign capital. The overall rank order according to capital intensity (value-added per worker) is: government-foreign, foreign, government, private. This overall result is decomposed into within-industry and inter-industry, and also old and new industry components. |
