Abstract: | Ongoing research highlights areas of discontent among temporary employees - and suggests how employers can improve morale and commitment within this segment of workforce. The use of temporary and part-time workers continues to increase, making it imperative that human resource managers gain greater understanding of the needs of these employees. New research by the authors identify the areas of greatest discontent: employment insecurity, resentment at impersonal treatment, feelings of being "underemployed," and the like. The article ends with suggestions on how employers can draft policies to help make temporary workers happier and more productive. |
