Abstract:At present, China's level of electrification is very low: the installed capacity per capita only 0.222 kilowatt, generated energy 927 kilowatt, so the power industry has very great potential for development. It is anticipated that the balance between supply and demand of total power shall be broken by 2003. Hence the need to turn the newly-built projects into operation. For example, new projects shall be begun in Guizhou, Xinjiang, Qinghai provinces with conditions available to do so where demand grow faster. New power plants shall be built in Yunnan, Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Shannxi where there are rich resources for power. Electricity should be transmitted to Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan, where the demand is great.
