Abstract:This paper investigates how groupwork affects the ethical decision making of accountancy students. In the study, final year accountancy students were randomly allocated to work either individually or in a group of 3-4 persons. Five ethical vignettes were used as an instrument. It was found that individuals had stronger tendency to take extreme actions than groups. In conclusion, groups reached consensus decisions probably caused by peer pressure.
