Abstract: | Many Western manufactured products like cars and electronics have lost their market shares to similar products from Japan. Productivity improvement programs, particularly in Canada, are examined to determine why some fail while others succeed. Specific case studies are also presented to determine how productivity can be improved through effective human relations programs. It is argued that any successful attempt to improve productivity via people must be backed by top management. Principles and motivators of vertical job leading are identified. Along the lines of these motivators is the quality of the work circles (QWC) concept is developed. At last employee involvement programs are offered. |
