Abstract: | A theoretical framework is presented to explore the psychological effects of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) on shopfloor operators.Four categorical components of the framework are identified: control, cognitive demand, responsibility, and social interaction. By making use of the more established job design, stress and related literatures, the framework predicts how these independent variables affect system performance, job-related strain, and job satisfaction. |
