| Abstract: | Baum and Powell (1995) clearly do not address the issues that Hannan, Carroll, Dundon and Torres (1995) present in their paper. Instead, they restate an earlier critique, argue for one kind of institutional analysis, and then make proposals for future research. Baum and Powell declare that one part of the theory of density-dependent organizational evolution should be viewed with scepticism. Have they found a logical error in this argument? No. They merely sketch a myriad of alternative meanings for legitimation. |
