Abstract:The major goal of the present study was to revisit cross- cultural concepts of face and face-saving by studying college students from four countries: Korea., Japan, United States, and Canada. On the basis of previous scholarly findings, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to the four countries' 762 college students who reside in their own countries. The findings of the present study supported the previous scholarly efforts that people from Asian countries are concerned more about face and face-saving in various social interactions than people from Western countries. Because the participants in the present study may not constitute representative samples of the population in four countries, however, it is necessary to include various groups of participants in future studies.
