Abstract:This article explores the ways participants in a popular dance scene reorganise the aesthetics used to assess the acceptability of dances performed in those places. According to the findings from participant observation in London's salsa clubs, London's salsa dancers have competed with each other to create a local deethnicised re-branded version of salsa which refers to the forms of cultural capital to which they have an access.
