Abstract:Germany currently is in a difficult economic situation. The characteristics incl. not only a period of economic weakness but also developments that pose a threat to the medium- to long-term prospects for Germany as a production location. In the report, attempt has been made to capture the economic policy environment in two quantative scenarios, that is, an "integration" scenario and a "restriction" scenario. The scenarios show that the German economy cannot be expected to return to an appropriate growth path. Also it is shown that global economic recovery, taken by itself, is not sufficient to induce such a process. An improvement is only possible if a comprehensive economic policy package is successfully put together.
