Abstract:Pre-mixed spirits, also known as convenience drinks or ready-to-drink, first appeared more than a decade ago. It was not until 1991, however, that various brands began to get marketed. Premium packaged spirits have emerged as a distinct, albeit difficult to define. Sales of pre-mixed spirits/premium packaged spirits combined reached 10.6 million litres in the year to Oct/Nov 1996, worth GBP 61 million at retail prices (in the UK). The balance of sales btw. premium packaged spirits and the longer-established pre-mixed spirits is necessarily changing rapidly at present. There are market size information and market segments, foreign trade (in short), consumption patterns, suppliers and brands, advertising, distribution, prices and margins information, packaging and prospects presented in the survey.
