| Abstract: | This paper discusses the main characteristics of Hong Kong's foreign trade and the reasons for the slowing growth of foreign trade in 1996 and also makes 1997 and 1998 forecast. Hong Kong's foreign trade in 1997 will be better than that in 1996 and will continue to grow in 1998. According to Hong Kong Trade Development Bureau's forecast, the growth rate of foreign trade in 1997 will reach 9%, the overall export-growth rate, 10%, the growth rate of transit trade, 12% and the export of Hong Kong made products will fall by 3% and the import rise by 8%. This situation will be much better than last year's. |
