| Abstract: | India with its many paradoxes and puzzles, is never far from the news. For the past four or five years, its fast growing software industry has repeatedly features in the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and BBC radio and television. The industry has attracted the attention of the media not only because of the fast growth of its exports, at around 40 per cent per annum , but also because a poor country with a per capita income of less than 400$ is home to a service industry at the heart of the information technology revolution. |
