Abstract:This paper reviews the international history of grain embargo and the evolution of relationship of grain trade between China and the Western countries. After that, it deduces that there isn't much possibility of China's facing a large scale of grain export embarbo. It thinks that China's future guiding principle of grain trade should be adjusted mainly according to the principle of economic rationality and the risk of grain embargo can not become the decisive factor restricting the adjustment of related policies. To reduce the risk of grain embargo, the idle grain field resulting from the import of grain should be encouraged to be used for the purpose of agricultural production with an aim at both raising the use efficiency of cultivated land and reserving the capacity of grain production.
