| Abstract: | The analysis of this essay predicts that China's foreign trade will develop at a low speed in 1999. Main bases lie in the following aspects: the slowing down of world economic growth speed results in the contraction of export market and the recovery of southeast asian countries' competitiveness of export products imposes serious challenges on our export; although the development situation of domestic economy and our policies are advantageous to expanding export, the falling of export products' competitiveness and difficulties existing in the operation of foreign trade enterprises restrain the growth of export; in addition, insufficient domestic demand makes it difficult to expand import. Therefore, we should maintain the growth speed of export by means of optimizing the structure of export products, encouraging foreign investment to drive export, etc. |
