Abstract:This study identifies important location-specific attributes and factors influencing the location decision of both foreign and domestic manufacturing investment in the United States. Through a nationwide survey of 319 firms, the study compares American and foreign manufacturers, specifically Japanese and German foreign manufacturing firms, and highlights important differences and similarities between the relative importance of location factors. Differences and similarities between foreign and domestic location considerations do exist.
