Abstract:In this study the authors assess different climate policies and underline significance of innovation and diffusion of renewable energy. The desirability of different policies is reviewed in relation to the technological development through learning and research and development (hereafter as R&D) and the degree of spillovers. The findings from this quantitative research highlight that optimal policy contains a selection of various instruments targeted at emissions, learning and R&D. The analysis indicates clearly that emissions price is the most efficient way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
