Abstract: | This paper examines the determinants of the degree of participation by firms in collective corporate political strategies aiming to shape government policy. Substantive cooperative strategies are shown to be more likely to be pursued by firms entering a voluntary agreement (VA) close to its initiation, whereas symbolic cooperation is more likely behaviour by late joiners. Late joiners and early joiners within VAs are shown to adopt different cooperative strategies due to facing different institutional pressures. There are also more results reported. |
